Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress that works in the fields of film, television and theatre. Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and was a resident of Nigeria over seven years was awash with trips and experiences in the world of culture at an early age. She went to boarding school between the ages of 7 until 9 in London. Later the family returned in Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she lived for the rest of her childhood. Contractor studied and became a classical dancer in Toronto. In the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school that specializes in the arts) she studied the theatre and dance. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and also double majored with Psychology and Sociology. Following a semester at the University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the production Pericles at the world-class and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the role of lead. The production she appeared in received acclaim from Canadian reviewers. She was offered the opportunity to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory, which allows only eight males and four women to study traditional theater. Contractor eagerly accepted.
